Hiking Hints & Equipment List

Preparation of the day before:

  1. Clothing: No cotton, polyester (quick dry material) preferred.
  2. Pants: Loose and old pants preferred.
  3. Windbreaker, hat or cap, sunglasses, suntan lotion.
  4. Spare clothing to change for rainy day or after hike.
  5. Socks: 2 pairs: linen for sweat absorption and thick cotton socks provide cushion effect to comfort your feet.
  6. Shoes: sneakers is fine for easy hike, but hiking boots preferred.
  7. Lunch: Bread or rice or dumplings, fruit and snacks.
  8. Drinks: Suggested 1.5 to 2.0 liters of water or energetic drinks.
  9. Backpack: No handbag or plastic bag. No LV or CoachÂ…
  10. For winter hike: hiking pole, fleece, gloves, waterproof shoes.
  11. Personal medicine or depending drugs.
  12. Camera, mobile phone and money.

In that morning

  1. Eat breakfast.
  2. Don't be late.
  3. Don't go to the wrong meeting place.

Before the hike

  1. Warm up stretching.
  2. Know who your leader is, don't follow the wrong person.

During the hike

  1. Don't go off trail, don't pick the wild flowers.
  2. Take group picture to save the good memories.
  3. Bring home with everything includes memories and garbage; leave nothing on the trail except footprints.
  4. Go restroom at hidden spots 20 steps off the trail and stream.

After the hike

  1. Ask for Passport and stamp from your leader.
  2. Ask for contact information from new friends.
  3. Take shower immediately and wash all clothing with soap or detergent to clean ticks.
